Disjointed Rantings of a Young Californian

When you have a music video that is roughly about Yuka taking over all of Gensoukyo and then proceeding to take on every one all at once, it's a sign you are superior.

Shit son, I don't even have to dodge bullets with her.

14th-Dec-2009 12:41 pm - It would seem that I was mistaken
David Morse gave me an e-mail back and he said he was, in fact, not arrested or anywhere near Berkeley last Friday. So I called the UCBPD about it. They had no clue who he was. So I checked the Yellow Pages. The only David Morse I could find listed told me that he was not arrested on Friday. I called the other 18 people with the last name Morse in Oakland, but no such luck.

In other words, a dead end.

I contacted the girl who drafted that press release that said Morse was filming at the time of arrest, and she could not verify such claims. This all leads me to ask if that piece of information is in fact even factual.

I'll let this go for now. I don't think it would be too wise for me to make any drastic move.

So Kyle posted the letter from SFSU President, Robert Corrigan.

I made a superficial comment about how the protesters didn't seem to understand the full extent of what they were trying to accomplish. The comment was trite, and open for misinterpretation.

And sure enough, someone bit on, perhaps a little more than they could even bite. Some anon challenged me to defend my stance, and mistook me for an SFSU student.

Well, I laid it down with the force of an iron gauntlet, complete with a pithy insult to intelligence.

Perhaps I'm being a bit of a troll on the poor child, but the message I send is clear. My final reply, in fact, is quite sincere (except the very first lines). Hitting enter to post that felt SO good.

(1:11:58 AM) Kyle: Really, I don't think you're going to get a response, sadly enough
(1:12:01 AM) Kyle: I don't think I will either
(1:12:08 AM) Chiaki: Oh
(1:14:16 AM) Chiaki: I have ways
(1:14:20 AM) Chiaki: to be a total douche
(1:16:00 AM) Chiaki: hmm
(1:16:12 AM) Chiaki: how do I make more people read this wonderful piece of discourse?
(1:16:23 AM) Chiaki: Oh yeah, conservative pundit radio
(1:16:34 AM) Chiaki: I'll call someone tomorrow.
(1:16:39 AM) Kyle: Do not link my LJ to talk radio >:|
(1:16:45 AM) Kyle: ...
(1:16:48 AM) Kyle: That's the first time in the world
(1:16:52 AM) Kyle: That sentence has ever been stated
(1:17:21 AM) Chiaki: sorry kyle, your LJ will be a stoop for me to garner infamy
(1:22:01 AM) Kyle: D8

I figure, now that my finals are over with, I should update with some capitalist ramblings. I'm behind in all of this, so I'll just group them in one post. The following products and events are endorsed by me in some way or form. (^_^)b

Otaku Academic Conference on Moe
Mmmm yep. I don't know what's more amazing, the title or the academic seriousness they invested in this. Guys, don't title your academic conference "Big Brother, What Does Moe Mean?" Can't we get away from "What is this?" to something that gives our field of study a little more... weight. We're being laughed off the stage by other academics for a reason, methinks.

Otherwise, this is an interesting sounding line up. Thomas LaMarrre, who has been recently making a name for himself in this realm, is teaming up with Patrick Galbraith, my man, to give a presentation on moe culture. It's to take place on a Friday afternoon on January 8 at the Ottawa University in Canada.

Kyoto to host an International Comics Studies Conference
I'm pretty sure, from the list of presenters and the conference abstract, that this would probably turn out to be an interesting talk. The fact it would cost money to attend and how it's roughly 5,000 miles away, deters me from going. It's mostly the 1,000 yen entrance fee though.

Kyoto Seika knows what it's doing though, so I trust this will be good to anyone who can make it.

Secret Asian Man: The Daily Days
To all of my fellow SAM lovers, namely Kyle. A 232 page collection of all the strips produced while syndicated through United Media is going to be published by Tak on Amazon. The book should be shipping in a few days, but the site is taking pre-orders, feel obligated to support him. Once he has a few copies in his own hands, he'll sell signed copies on his site.

This is a self-published venture so any support is very appreciated.

That's about all for advertisement today.
